Frequently asked questions

Is location permission required?

No. You can tap or click the map, search for a place, or enter latitude and longitude. The app requests Core Location permission only after you choose Current Location. Map, search, and reverse-geocoding requests may still be processed by Apple services.

Why does a historical event use a modern map?

The background is present-day Apple Maps. It does not reconstruct historical or future borders, cities, roads, or coastlines.

Why can values differ from NASA or another reference table?

Results can differ because of the ephemeris, lunar-limb radius, ΔT, Earth orientation, terrain, and atmospheric assumptions. Review the calculation conditions and sources shown in the app. The app does not guarantee definitive values for observation planning, navigation, scientific conclusions, or safety-critical decisions.

Is the lunar-eclipse colour a prediction?

No. The red colour is a schematic aid for understanding eclipse progress. It does not determine the atmosphere or actual colour of a historical or future eclipse.

Which export formats are available?

You can export selected-event data as CSV or JSON and the screen or window as PNG or PDF. Exports may include the selected location's name, coordinates, time zone, or other information visible on screen, so check the content before sharing it.
